Executive Council Meets in Flushing

The Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple (Flushing, NY) provided a gracious setting for the Spring meeting of the Religions for Peace – USA Executive Council on June 17, 2009. Abbess Yung Ku welcomed us on behalf of the temple. The Venerable Miao Hong brought greetings from Buddha’s Light International Association. The Venerable Miao Yu and representatives of BLIA and the temple provided hospitality, including a delicious luncheon and a visit to the newly renovated temple’s tea room. Key actions during this meeting included the approval of Mr. Homi Gandhi (FEZANA) as RFP-USA’s new Treasurer, and the Rev. Dr. Jay Rock (Presbyterian Church USA) as chair of the Nomination Committee. Discussion centered on redefining RFP-USA’s program philosophy in light of its new Strategic Plan.
