National Women's History Month - Commemorating the role women played in transforming culture, politics, history, art, science and literature.

    • Ash Wednesday [Christianity] - The beginning of Lent, the forty day period of prayer and repentance that precedes Easter.

    • 19-day begins Ala [Baha'i] - The beginning of the 19 day fast in preparation for Now Ruz. Those of age and in good health abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset.

    • Great Fast Begins [Christianity] - The 40 day period prior to the beginning of holy week, ending with Lazarus Saturday, theday before Palm Sunday.

    • International Women's Day - This day was established in 1911 in commemoration of working women. Today it is a day of recognition of the women's struggle for equality. A day to bring attention to the current need for humanitarian action in helping women around the globe.

    • Eve of Purim [Judaism] - Purim begins at sundown. The first reading of the Book of Esther takes place.

    • Holi [Hinduism] - A colorful and joyous festival dedicated to Krishna or Kama.
    • Purim [Judaism] - Purim celebrates the victory of the Jews over an oppressive ruler Achashverosh. Celebrated by dressing up in funny costumes and trading food packages known as Shalachmanot.
    • Sikh New Year's Day [Sikhism] - Beginning of the year 538 of the Nanakshahi Era
    • Magha Puja [Buddhism] - This day commemorates the previous gathering of over 1,000 monks to pay homage to Buddha, it is celebrated on the full moon of the third lunar month.

    • Hola Mohallah [Sikhism] - A three day festival following Holi. Once used as a time for military preparedness excersise, mock battles are now held on this day followed by music competitions and festivities.

    • Ghambar Hamaspathmaedem begins [Zoroastrianism] - A five day festival celebrating the creation of human beings. At this time the ones that have passed away are remembered as well.

    • St. Patricks Day - Rooted in the Irish tradition, this festival is now marked by joyous drinking and merriment.

    • Kwan Yin Day [Buddhism] - A day used to honor Kwan Yin, a symbolic future Buddha, a female dispensing compassion with a thousand arms.

    • 19 day fast ends [Baha'i]
    • Spring Ohigon [Buddhism] - A special time in which Buddhists listen to the teachings of Buddha and mediate on the perfection of enlightenment.
    • Shunki-sorei-sai [Shinto] - A memorial service held in altars at home to revere ancestors as Kami. At this time, gravesites are cleaned and purified.
    • Ostara [Wicca] - Celebrated the return of a Goddess and the reawakening of the seeds within the earth touched by the warm glow of God's love.

    • Now Ruz [Zoroastrianism] - New Year for 1375 AY, celebrates the renewal of the world and the creation of fire. The festival last 14 days and begins on the Vernal Equinox
