Chapters

RFP - USA creates multi-religious partnerships that mobilize the moral and social resources of religious people to address their shared problems in communities across the United States. Local or regional chapters empower religious communities to improve lives and promote peace by connecting with one another and sharing best practices and resources across the RFP - USA network.

Beyond the guidelines below, each local or regional chapter of RFP - USA shall determine its own specific requirements for institutional and individual membership within that chapter, respecting the purposes and multi-religious character of RFP - USA, as well as the area's own religious traditions and procedures. When a request for a chapter application is made directly through RFP - USA, the mission and areas of focus of RFP - USA shall provide the basic guidelines for relationship. A handbook for chapter development is available upon written request.

Local and regional interreligious organizations, agencies, and emerging coalitions will be eligible to become chapters of RFP - USA:

  • If they honor the five emphasises of RFP-USA of: representativity, program focused, action-oriented, subsidiarity, sustainability.
  • If they formally subscribe to the goals of interreligious membership;
  • If they affirm dialogue and multireligious collaboration on behalf of peace, locally and worldwide;
  • If they affirm the connection of justice seeking with peace making;
  • If they can attest to the involvement of a minimum of 5 of the faith-traditions in their collaborative efforts;

A chapter of RFP - USA may have other affiliations, such as those with a council of churches, a community-based justice-seeking or peace-building initiative, or the like.

Chapters of RFP - USA shall expect for their affiliation:

  • Periodic and special informational bulletins on the work of RFP - USA and RFP - International
  • Special alerts and important briefings on critical issues
  • Early notification of events and opportunities to become involved
  • Online resources, papers, and linkages
  • Clear connections to best practices across the U.S. in interfaith peace and justice work
  • Satisfaction of being a part of a large national network of diverse peoples working for peaceful and just society

The Executive Council of RFP - USA shall have the final right of approval for local or regional chapters.
